A Technique to Increase Vocal Range

A technique to increase vocal range is something many singers desire. There are several things you can do to help expand your range. I'll talk about a couple of techniques below.

Do you know what your soft palate is? If you can learn to your soft palate raised in the back of your throat, you will be increasing your range in no time. That's because you are actually letting more air flow out when you open up your throat more. If you look in the mirror, you can see that soft skin in the very back of the throat and how you can open it up.

Another technique to increase vocal range is controlling the larynx. The larynx often moves up and down when singing and this is a hard habit to break. We need to learn how to keep it totally still if we want to get better at expanding our range.

Again, you can look in the mirror and see your larynx move up and down with your Adam's apple when you sing different notes. It needs to be kept totally still when singing because this enables you to use all of your vocal chords as opposed to only using a few limiting your range.

People easily increase their range a whole octave or more when they learn helpful techniques. I was amazed how much better my singing got when I just learned some simple breathing and how to open up my throat by following a teacher's lessons. There are all kinds of lessons that can help you develop range.

Of course, some are better than others. Relaxation is key though. When we learn to relax the throat and body while singing, we increase range and volume with very little effort. That's a really good feeling. I hope you find a good technique to increase vocal range and continue to improve your singing.
